LEWES, Del. A 30-year-old Maryland woman died in Sunday s early hours after being struck by a bus in Lewes.
Just after 1 a.m., Delaware State Police say a 2004 Ford E-450 bus was traveling west on John J. Williams Highway. The 58-year-old Rehoboth Beach driver approached the intersection at Warrington Road but he wouldn t see the pedestrian walking north across the highway.
Jennifer Hoffman stepped directly into the path of the bus, police said in a recent news release. Wearing dark clothes, nothing reflective and lacking a light, police said the Huntington, Maryland, resident was struck by the left side of the vehicle.

A Maryland woman crossing Route 24 overnight April 25 was struck and killed by a bus.
The woman, 30, from Huntington, Md., was walking north across Route 24 near Warrington Road at 1:23 a.m. when she walked directly in front of a Ford E-450 bus traveling westbound on Route 24, said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police.
The woman was wearing dark clothing with no reflective material and she was not carrying a light, Pepper said. The bus driver did not see her, and the left front side of the Ford struck the pedestrian within the westbound lane of travel, she said.

LEWES, Del.– Delaware State Police are investigating after a pedestrian was killed in a crash early Sunday morning.
Police say around 1:23 Sunday morning, a bus traveling was westbound on John J Williams Highway.
At the same time, a 30-year-old woman was walking north across the road, and stepped in front of the bus.
Police say the bus driver wasn’t able to see the victim, who was wearing dark clothes and not carrying a light or reflective material.
The victim was taken to Beebe Medical Center where she later died, and her identification is pending notification of next of kin.

The Milton Police Department responded to a shooting in the 500 block of Union Street around 5:15 p.m. Dec. 31. A male victim suffering a single gunshot wound to the torso was transported to Beebe Medical Center by ambulance, according to Chief Derrick Harvey.
A possible suspect was found by state police troopers sitting in a vehicle in a wooded area of Burton Road, Harvey said, and transported to a local hospital. He did not say why.
Harvey did not name the victim or the suspect, but Terri Hoggan-Gratton confirmed her son, Mark A. Gratton, was the victim in a Facebook post.
