Holiday panto offers seasonal fun
Theater in the Open s annual winter tradition is going on in a new fashion this weekend. At Home for the Holidays: A Streaming Solstice Panto! will be broadcast from the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newburyport on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m.
The show will celebrate the winter holidays with its usual high jinks and goofs, but will be livestreamed on YouTube, free to all, thanks to underwriting from the Institution for Savings.

After just 17 months, Brian P. Kennedy is stepping down as director and chief executive of the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) in Salem, Massachusetts, the institution has announced. He gave no reason beyond wanting to seek “a new challenge” and did not say where he was headed next.
Kennedy, who took over as director in July 2019 following his hiring the previous March, is leaving on 31 December. The Dublin-born museum leader had previously served for nine years as president, director and chief executive of the Toledo Museum of Art in Ohio.

SALEM â Brian Kennedy is stepping down as director and CEO of Peabody Essex Museum on Dec. 31, the museum announced Tuesday. Â
Kennedy is the second leader of Peabody Essex Museum since a merger formed it in 1992. He was hired in 2019 to replace longtime executive director Dan Monroe.
âAfter thirty years in museum leadership on three continents, this unprecedented period has given me insight and perspective into the profound changes that are happening in the world and I have decided to pursue a new challenge, said Kennedy in a statement Tuesday.
