A Pontiac woman is charged in the stabbing of her 75-year-old grandfather multiple times on Sunday, authorities said.
Shanitra Lashay Seay, 27, has been charged with assault with intent to murder, the Oakland County Sheriff s Office said Wednesday.
Seay was arraigned Tuesday on the charge in 50th District Court in Pontiac. A judge set her bond at $70,000 and scheduled a probable cause conference for May 20. If convicted, she faces up to life in prison.
Officials said deputies were sent after midnight Saturday to the Phoenix Place Apartments at 47251 Woodward near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and M-59 in Pontiac for a report that a bleeding woman was carrying a knife and said someone tried to kill her.

Authorities said they were called to Phoenix Place Apartments just after midnight Sunday because a woman who was bleeding and carrying a knife said someone tried to kill her.
When Oakland County sheriff s deputies arrived at 47251 Woodward Avenue, they found Seay in the lobby. She did not have a knife, but she said she stabbed a man in an apartment because he attempted to kill her.
Deputies found a 75-year-old man face down on the floor with multiple stab wounds to his head, face, arms, cheek, chest, and tongue.
Police have identified the Pontiac woman who is accused of stabbing her sleeping grandfather in the middle of the night after he let her stay on his couch because she had nowhere to live, authorities said.

PONTIAC, Mich. (FOX 2) - A woman is accused of stabbing her grandfather multiple times while he was sleeping after he let her stay at his Pontiac apartment.

PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) â A Pontiac woman was arrested after allegedly stabbing her grandfather while he was sleeping, the Oakland County Sheriff s Office said.
Deputies responded to the Phoenix Place Apartments on the report of a woman who was bleeding, carrying a knife and saying someone tried to kill her.
Upon arrival, the 27-year-old woman told deputies she had stabbed a man in an upstairs apartment because he had attempted to kill her.
The 75-year-old man was found lying on the floor of his apartment with multiple lacerations to his head, face, arms and tongue. He had also been stabbed in the chest and cheek.
