Four-year-old boy killed in road accident on Beetham Highway

A four-year-old child has died in a road accident on the Beetham Highway.
According to reports, the accident occurred at Light Pole #112 Beetham Highway, when a Gasparillo man was driving his Suzuki Vitara along the eastbound carriageway of the Beetham Highway and struck three people - Debbie Joseph, Kellen Thompson, 6, and Kevin Thompson, 4, as they were attempting to cross the highway.
They were all taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital by Highway patrol police officers.

A 38-year-old man was shot in the right hand and foot, allegedly over the sale of land.
According to a police report, the victim told police he was having a conversation with his neighbours near his home about the sale of land in the area when he was approached by a man from the community who told him to leave.
The incident happened at about 2.30 pm on Wednesday.
The suspect then allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim several times.

Thick, black smoke billowed high into the skies across Port-of-Spain yesterday, as thousands of gallons of fuel burnt indiscriminately following an explosion at National Petroleum’s Sea Lots compound.
Three people, said to be contractors performing maintenance work on the compound at the time, were injured in the blast and were quickly whisked away from the scene for emergency medical care.
