A vehicle sustained significant damage but its driver was uninjured after swerving to avoid a squirrel on Route 202 in Peterborough Thursday morning.
Michael Regan, 39, of Hancock was traveling northbound in a 2012 Ford Focus on Route 202 just south of the Plaza at 11:40 a.m. when a squirrel jumped out into the road and Regan swerved to avoid it, according to the driver’s account, Peterborough Police Chief Scott Guinard said. The vehicle went off the road and into a bank, causing “quite a bit of damage” to the front right-hand side of the vehicle, Guinard said. The vehicle was towed from the scene and no injuries were reported, he said.
