Jaffrey fire Chief David Chamberlain told News 9 he measured 6 to 8 inches of rain in 24 hours. There was a voluntary evacuation for 39 homes on Letourneau Drive off Nutting Road. A brook was a foot over a small bridge and has since receded a bit but it will need to be replaced.

With a dead cell phone and ill-prepared for the nighttime hike, a Massachusetts resident was saved from potential peril atop a New Hampshire mountain over the weekend by conservation officers in the Granite State.
The 40-year-old Winchendon, Massachusetts woman suffered serious injuries after falling from a rock ledge on Mount Monadnock in Jaffrey, New Hampshire on Sunday. Less than a minute before her phone died, she was able to put out a call to emergency responders, who were able to rescue her in the hours that followed, officials detailed.
