LABOUR S David Williams has vowed to make a difference after winning 58 per cent of the vote in the Cledford by-election. The dad-of-three from Warmingham Lane said he is determined to improve public services and facilities for Middlewich residents. During the election I had hundreds of socially distanced doorstep conversations with residents and heard their thoughts and ideas about how we can make living in Middlewich better, said Cllr Williams. I want to continue the conversations, not just have them at election time, and put those great ideas at the heart of a new Neighbourhood Plan, turning words into actions.

RESTORING pride in Middlewich is a top priority for re-elected Liberal Democrat Cllr Peter Hirst. The retired hospital physician was very pleased to win 34 per cent of votes in the Cledford by-election. Pride in the town is very important, said Cllr Hirst, who served as a town councillor for 16 years from 1999-2015. Middlewich was named as one of the top five places to live in England in 2014. I will do whatever I can do to help the town council keep up the image of the town, tackling litter, creating green spaces and hanging baskets. The appearance of the town and helping people to have pride in the town is something tangible that we can do.

Clyde & Co has no imminent plans to appoint a Senior Partner as the last person to occupy the role - the fourth in under a decade - retires from the firm.
Peter Hirst stepped down from the Senior Partner position on 31 December after serving just over one year in the role, and retired today.
It was revealed in January that Hirst was being investigated for bullying, but was subsequently cleared. “I welcome the conclusion of this independent investigation which rejects the complaints made against me, as I was confident it would , Hirst said.
