Sensorio exhibit extended through January

Since reopening, exhibit has reportedly been sold out weeks in advance Due to overwhelming public demand, Sensorio announces the extension of the outdoor art exhibit Bruce Munro: Light at Sensorio through Jan. 2, 2022. The immersive installation includes Munro’s 15-acre Field of Light, an array of over 58,800 stemmed spheres lit by fiber-optics which gently illuminate the landscape in subtle blooms of morphing color, and the adjacent Light Towers, featuring 69 towers composed of more than 17,000 wine bottles illuminated with glowing optic fibers modulating to a custom musical score. Since reopening in April 2021 following a mandated closure due to the pandemic, the exhibit has been sold out weeks in advance. Says Sensorio Executive Director Paul Haught, “We are thrilled to announce this extension, so that all interested visitors can have the opportunity to experience this one-of-a-kind immersive exhibit.”

Stargazers and art lovers united under the stunning extra-large full moon last night when Bruce Munro: Light at Sensorio opened for a special mid-week evening to celebrate the cosmic event. The “Super Flower Blood Moon” rose shortly before 9:00pm PDT over Sensorio’s stunning 15-acre Field of Light and its new Light Towers exhibit, both created by British artist Bruce Munro, when the moon was 22,116.6 miles from Earth its nearest approach in 2021. The next supermoon will not be viewable until 2022.

Schroder joins from the CTO role at McLaren Applied, a division of McLaren Group, which brings technology from its F1 team to industry. During his time as chief engineer for the Formula 1 team, Schroder oversaw development and delivery of technologies across all aspects of car and race operations, including McLaren-Honda’s Formula 1 energy recovery system. Schroder will lead Karakuri’s engineering team as the company develops “the world’s first robotic canteen”, its DK-One robot, ahead of a pilot installation later this year.
