Draft ‘blueprints’ for Shire released for public review
Nillumbik Shire Council has released four major draft strategic documents that will guide the future direction of the Shire for the next four years and beyond.
The draft Community Vision – Nillumbik 2040, Council Plan 2021-2025, Nillumbik Health and Wellbeing Plan 2021-2025, and Financial Plan 2021-2031 are now available at Participate Nillumbik for the community to review and provide feedback until Thursday 26 August.
Councillors endorsed the public exhibition of the four draft plans at Tuesday night’s Council meeting.

Help shape improvements to heart of Wattle Glen
Council has commenced the Wattle Glen Public Realm Framework Project to work with the community to consider and plan for improvements to public spaces within the heart of Wattle Glen.
Examples of public spaces, also called the ‘public realm’, include footpaths, trails, parkland and road reserves.
Wattle Glen is situated in scenic undulating terrain that contains some residential areas and local destinations interspersed with large areas of pasture and bushland.
Mayor Peter Perkins said an aim of this project was to plan easier connections for pedestrians and cyclists between key destinations such as the train station, Diamond Creek trail, the primary school, general store, tennis club and Pepper’s Paddock.
Nillumbik Mayor Peter Perkins said Andrew Park was a popular recreation area.
“I thank the Victorian Government and particularly Eltham MP Vicki Ward for their significant financial support of this project,” Cr Perkins said.
“With a seniors exercise area, basketball half courts and climbing equipment, we hope this proposed revitalisation provides residents of all ages opportunities to keep active, and improve their health and wellbeing.
“The new facilities, toilets, drinking fountain, bicycle repair station and seating will also provide a pleasant rest stop for users of the Diamond Creek Trail.
“I encourage park users to take a look at the plans and tell us what you think.”
