Flintstones sequel series has rolled onto Fox. Say it with me, folks, Yabba-Dabba-Doo!
Word has arrived by an exotic talking bird that Fox is developing a primetime animated adult comedy series with Elizabeth Banks (
Charlie Angels,
Hunger Games) star set to voice Pebbles Flintstone in addition to producing. Banks has been developing the project, titled
Bedrock, for several years with Warner Bros. Animation under her overall deal via her Brownstone Productions studio.
Bedrock will follow the Flintstone family two decades after the original, with Fred on the brink of retirement and 20-something Pebbles embarking on her own career. As the Stone Age gives way to a shiny and enlightened new Bronze Age, the residents of Bedrock will find this evolution harder than a swing from Bamm-Bamm’s club.

Fox is preparing to meet
The Flintstones again.
The network is teaming with Warner Bros. Animation and star and executive producer Elizabeth Banks to develop
Bedrock, an update of the classic animated series. The adult animation project, first announced nearly two years ago, will be set 20 years after the 1960s series and center on a grown-up Pebbles Flintstone (voiced by Banks).
Lindsay Kerns (
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, DC Super Hero Girls) will write the pilot script.
The two parties have expanded their team-up to include a slew of original, scripted series centered around such comic book icons as Wonder Woman, Joker, Superman, Lois Lane, Catwoman, Katana, The Riddler, Batgirl, and Harley Quinn. “I think the fanbase will respond to this in an exciting way and embrace it as something new and novel, said DC s Chief Creative Officer, Jim Lee. [It] supplements all the other ways they take in the DC Universe.
Right now, we only have details for
Batman Unburied, an audio drama that delves into the darker aspects of Bruce Wayne s psychology. Created and produced by screenwriter David S. Goyer, the project is expected to debut on Spotify sometime this year.
