PORTLAND Town Council has voted to support the Government s National Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill. At their council meeting on January 20, Portland Town Councillors unanimously voted to support the Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill currently awaiting a second reading in Parliament. The Bill, if passed, would require the Government to develop emergency strategies to reduce UK greenhouse gas emissions, protect the environment, and support wildlife habitats and soil fertility. Having first declared a ‘Climate and Ecological Emergency’ in June 2019, Portland councillors also support Dorset Council’s own declaration, and have contributed comments and observations to Dorset Council s recent strategy consultation.
I grew up reading The Pueblo Chieftain.
An avid sports fan, I would clip photos from the sports section of my favorite athletes, Sammy Sosa and Michael Jordan.
I would read box scores of local preps teams (in particular my alma mater Pueblo County High School). And as I got older, I would read The Chieftain to stay up-to-date on current news.
In high school, in Florence Relph’s journalism class, I would imagine myself the sports editor of the paper someday.
Fast forward some 16 years later, and I’m writing this in the editor’s office of The Pueblo Chieftain.
