PWT reads How to Get Away With Horn Playwright and director Veronique Francois. - Excerpts from the screenplay How to Get Away With Horn will be featured at the National Drama Association’s (NDATT) Playwrights Workshop Trinbago (PWT) Monthly Readers Theatre Series (MRTS). Held the first Wednesday of every month, the series will continue online in light of the precautionary measures implemented as a result of the covid19 pandemic, said a media release from the PTW. The reading will take place via Zoom meeting only on May 5 at 7 pm. The screenplay follows Nekeda as she explores a much-debated topic in the Caribbean, horn, on her YouTube channel.

Demming, the mother of four, died at 96 at her Diego Martin home on March 3. Her son Richard Demming told Newsday on Monday his mother hoped to live to be 100. “She will be missed. I’m sorry she didn’t make the 100. She was married to a cricketer, and she always said she doesn’t like when the batsman drops out in the 90s. Just one boundary and she would have made it.

Girl Be Heard TT auditions open Saturday 27 February 2021 Girls Be Heard (GBHTT) 2020 cohort following a performance at the little Caribe Theatre, White and Robert Streets in Woodbrook. - AUDITIONS are open for the 2021 cohort of the Girl Be Heard TT (GBHTT) girls empowerment programme. The audition will take place virtually this year, with the deadline for submissions being March 5. Girl Be Heard TT is an offshoot of the Girl Be Heard (GBH) programme which began in New York City and has toured eight countries. The programme empowers teenage girls through theatre-making, spoken word, and song. In October 2016, Girl Be Heard received a grant from the US State Department through the TT Embassy and the Oak Foundation to establish a GBH programme outside the United States. The programme was born in partnership with the 2 Cents Movement.

Heroes Foundation distributes tablets to 111 students Thursday 24 December 2020 A participant and parent in the Big Brothers Big Sisters programme with a digital device from The Heroes Foundation - The Heroes Foundation has distributed ICRAIG seven-inch tablet devices and accessories to 111 students from seven secondary schools across TT. In a release, the foundation said it has been delivering devices over the Christmas season to the students who participated in the Heroes Development Programme and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of TT mentorship programme. The schools benefiting from this initiative are Belmont Secondary School, Bishop’s Centenary College, Success Laventille Secondary School, Woodbrook Secondary School, Southeast Port-of-Spain Secondary School, Siparia West Secondary School, and Waterloo High School.
