Mass vaccination site launched at Mohegan Sun

Gov. Ned Lamont has teamed up with the Mohegan Tribe and Yale New Haven Health System to open up a large COVID-19 vaccination site at Mohegan Sun. The new clinic will open Friday, operating by appointment-only out of the Mohegan Sun Earth Expo & Convention Center. Appointments can be made online by visiting www.ynhhs.org/covidvaccine and selecting the Mohegan Sun location, or via the state s COVID Vaccine Appointment Assist Line at 877-918-2224. Only Connecticut residents will be allowed to book an appointment. “This latest mass vaccination site shows the coordinated effort our state is making with our tribal partners, and our partners in healthcare,” Lamont said in a statement. “The Mohegan Tribe has taken incredible steps throughout the pandemic to keep its members and residents safe through standing up testing sites, the distribution of PPE, and coordination with the Connecticut Department of Public Health. Starting today, the Norwich Bulletin is bringing our readers a weekly special where we interview local restaurant owners and chefs to learn more about their story; we re calling it The Local Flavor. Winter storm hits Norwich: Info on snowfall, closures, parking bans

Weather Expect snowfall, possibly mixed with rain, throughout the day, with dense, freezing fog in until midday. Winds will be anywhere from 17 to 22 m.p.h. with gusts as high as 36 m.p.h. Temperatures will hover around 32°F. 6-10 of snow is possible. Snow will continue to fall through 2 a.m. Tuesday, where it will likely transition to sleet and rain. Winds will hold at 20-25 m.p.h. with gusts reaching 41 m.p.h. An additional 2-4 of snow is expected Additional rain and/or snow is expected through Tuesday, but shouldn t be more than an inch. Winds will slowly die down to 9-14 m.p.h. into Tuesday night as the storm will finally pass. 

AG Tong seeks permanent custody of neglected horses from Montville farm

Attorney General William Tong today moved for the state to gain permanent custody over eight horses who were seized late last year due to malnourishment and neglect. Stemming from a complaint issued to Montville Animal Control, Connecticut s Department of Agriculture s Animal Control Unit met with Laurel Ledge Farm owner Michelle R. Wilson in Oakdale. Authorities noted several severely underweight horses and urged the owner to consult with a veterinarian to aid their nutrition and overall health, according to a press release issued Tuesday. Upon returning to the farm, none of the suggested medical care was implemented, resulting in further deterioration in the horses conditions. One horse would need euthanization due to a severe bone infection.

Ned Lamont accounces next phase of CT vaccine rollout for COVID-19

Today, Governor Ned Lamont announced Phase 1b of Connecticut s COVID-19 vaccine rollout will begin this coming Monday, Jan. 18, with eligible residents able to schedule appointments now.  Phase 1b currently covers all persons age 75 or over, persons and staff of congregate settings, and frontline essential workers. In addition, Lamont plans on expanding those eligible under 1b in the coming weeks to include persons age 65 and over and those between 16-64 who have underlying health conditions. In total, just over 2 million residents will receive a vaccine by the end of 1b, over half of Connecticut s 3.5 million population. Connecticut residents looking to make an appointment have three options:
