Orange County resident Sean Doyle, age 38, of Cornwall, admitted to criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child on Monday, May 10 in the case connected to News 12 s Blaise Gomez. Doyle was arrested on March 18, 2019, after Gomez called police to their Town of Cornwall residence stating that Doyle had assaulted her and placed his hands around her neck, said the Orange County District Attorney s Office. Gomez said she was strangled, repeatedly punched in the face with a closed fist, thrown into her headboard - causing it to crack - spit on, called horrible obscenities, put in a chokehold, had her trachea squeezed shut and whipped around by her hair.

Hudson Valley Man Pleads Guilty to Abusing Popular News Reporter A Hudson Valley man has pleaded guilty to domestic violence charges after choking a local newswoman and endangering the welfare of three children. Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler announced that Sean Doyle of Cornwall pleaded guilty in a domestic violence case involving News 12 reporter Blaise Gomez. Doyle was arrested on March 18 after Gomez, his wife, called police to their home in the Town of Cornwall. The reporter says Doyle assaulted her and placed his hands around her neck. The 28-year-old man was also accused of threatening Gomez and preventing her from leaving the house.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Michael Milza said at Doyle s arraignment in 2019 that on March 18, 2019, Doyle arrived at the Cornwall house where Gomez moved with her children in June 2018. At the house, Doyle, who also lived in Cornwall at the time, choked her, punched her repeatedly, and threw her into the headboard of her bed so hard that the headboard split in half, Milza said at the arraignment. In a statement on Monday, Gomez said that her ex-husband “pled guilty to charges of domestic violence against me. I am glad that the justice system has properly recognized the seriousness of his crimes and am grateful that my children and I have been kept safe through this long and difficult process. I am now looking forward to putting this chapter of my life behind me and wanted to say how thankful I am to everyone who has supported me and my family through this time.”
