TOWN OF WIOTA, Wis. A GoFundMe has been created for the family of a 7-year-old girl who drowned in the Pecatonica River on Saturday night.
Lafayette County officials said the girl and two other children had gone into the river near the County M boat landing west of Woodford. The river’s current swept the girl under the water, and officials said they found her body early Sunday morning.
The girl’s family has identified her as Leah Foster. Leah was the youngest of three children and attended Blackhawk School District.
Leah’s aunt Trish Foster told News 3 Now she loved the outdoors and spending time with friends and family.

BEAVER FALLS – While students at the Blackhawk School District are itching to get out of school for the summer, a number of their parents and neighbors are competing to get into it.
Municipal primary elections are scheduled for May 18 and all three of the regional races for Blackhawk School Board director are going to be tight, with every candidate running as both a Democrat and Republican.
Region 1
Two candidates are running for one, four-year seat as Blackhawk School Board director for Region 1. Incumbent Neil Morrison, the current school board president, is facing newcomer Lynn Kalcevic in the race.
Morrison, 63, of South Beaver Township, said he has a proven record of serving the district and wants a chance to continue that.
After a year of unpredictable days, Beaver County schools are determined to offer juniors and seniors a night they can count on by giving them a prom.
Despite a rise in local cases of COVID-19, this high school staple will go on for most local districts next month and give back to students a bit of what the pandemic has taken away from them.
Some of the events announced are as follows: Central Valley School District s prom is scheduled for 6 p.m. May 7 at The Club at Shadow Lakes in Hopewell Township, Blackhawk School District s prom is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 14 at Blackhawk Stadium and Beaver Area School District s prom is scheduled for 6 p.m. May 22 at The Club at Shadow Lakes.
