The organisers of the awful, memed-to-oblivion Fyre Festival have agreed on a $US7,220 ($9,333) per person settlement with 277 attendees of the 2017 event, according to the New York Times.
It’s hard to believe it has been almost four years since the festival – which was branded as the most luxurious music event in the world – left attendees eating sandwiches that looked like they came from the cafeteria of an underfunded school.

The New York Times on Thursday (April 15), the failed 2017 festival’s organizers and 277 ticketholders came to an agreement on a $2 million settlement in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of New York.
The settlement comes out to about $7,220 apiece for ticketholders, but that figure could be lower depending on another bankruptcy lawsuit with the festival creditors.

Four years on from the disastrous Fyre Festival, ticket holders will now receive $7,220 (£5,240) each after a $2million settlement between organisers and 227 ticket holders was reached on Tuesday.
The ticket holders paid between $1,000 and $12,000 to attend the event that was billed as the most luxurious music festival, but in reality festival goers turned up to a “building” site and were offered cheese on a piece of bread.
Organiser Billy McFarland, who was sentenced to six years in jail in 2018, said he was “committed to, and working actively to, find a way to make this right.”
The eventual payout to ticket holders could be lower as the lawsuit ruling is still subject to a vote of approval and other lawsuits the organisers are facing.
