Fyre co-founder Billy McFarland pled guilty to two counts of wire fraud in federal court in Manhattan and admitted to using fake documents to attract investors to put more than $26 million into his company. He is currently serving his six year sentence. Meanwhile, ticket holders filed a class action against the festival. That suit recently settled for all 277 members of the class action. Each will receive $7,200 which essentially wraps up the matter. Meanwhile, Fyre festival promotor Ja Rule rule is selling a Fyre Festival related tweet for $80,000, in case you feel like… investing.

Fyre Festival has reached a settlement with 277 ticketholders who attended the infamous failed music festival in 2017. Each recipient is being awarded $7,220, according to a report by Billboard, for being defrauded by Fyre Festival founder Billy McFarland. It’s a small but significant step for ticketholders who were defrauded and had their lives up ended as a result of the fraudulent conduct by McFarland, said Ben Meiselas, partner at Geragos & Geragos, who represented the ticket holders in the class action lawsuit.  Meiselas added that while recipients may not see the full $7,220 because multiple creditors are involved in cleaning up the Fyre mess,  there will be monetary relief in some form or fashion pending approval, he said.

The Fyre Festival was going to be the biggest festival there has ever been on a private island. It was announced and produced by Billy McFarland and partnering with Ja Rule to include some of the biggest acts. The Festival was promoted by some of the biggest social media influencers and celebrities. People arrived and nothing was ready and prepared, some people paid up to 100k for packages that gave them exclusivity to be with celebs. It looked good but it was executed poorly and it was just a big rip off. Now we have 227 People that filed a class action lawsuit against the organizers to be receiving $7,200 each. I m not sure how much some people paid and got ripped off but this could just be a piece of what they spent or more.
