After Austin Smotherman’s breakthrough victory at the Simmons Bank Open for the Snedeker Foundation, the Korn Ferry Tour proceeds to east Tennessee for this week’s Visit Knoxville Open, contested at venerable Holston Hills CC, which maintains a history of 94 years.
The Visit Knoxville Open is one of four original events that has been contested since the Korn Ferry Tour’s inaugural 1990 season, and the event returns after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will mark the event’s first playing at Holston Hills CC, a Donald Ross design which measures 7,028 yards and plays to par-70.
Paul Barjon battles back, eagles third playoff hole to win Huntsville Championship May 02, 2021
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Paul Barjon never deviated from the plan.
Not after he double bogeyed the opening hole Sunday. Not after the three-stroke lead he carried into the final round of the Huntsville Championship turned into a four-stroke deficit at the turn. Not after his playing partner, Mito Pereira, hit an approach inside of eight feet on the 72nd hole and set up what could have been a tournament-winning birdie. Not even after Billy Kennerly did the same thing on the first hole of a three-man sudden-death playoff.

The final round of the inaugural Huntsville Championship was anything but boring. After four rounds of highly competitive play, Paul Barjon walked away victorious, and a little richer. But Sunday was no normal round of golf.
Barjon entered the final round in the lead at -14, with his pairing, Mito Pereira, just three strokes back.
Pereira came out firing in the final round, shooting five-under on the front nine to take sole possession of the lead. But that lead shrunk as several players made pushes.
2021/05/03 15:07 GOLF PALM HARBOR, Fla. (AP) Eight times this season, Sam Burns has been atop the leaderboard after every round except the one that mattered. That changed, finally, at the Valspar Championship. Burns got some help from Keegan Bradley hitting into the water on the 13th hole, and then the 24-year-old from Louisiana took it from there with two big birdies that led to a 3-under 68 and a three-shot victory Sunday. Burns won for the first time on the PGA Tour after twice failing to convert 54-hole leads in the Houston Open last fall and the Genesis Invitational at Riviera in February. The victory moves him into the top 50 in the world and all but assures a spot in the U.S. Open, along with his first trip to the Masters next spring.
