Letters: Should our representatives be term limited?
With Mondayâs Question of the Week, we asked readers whether state and federal representatives should be subject to term limits. Here are some of the responses we received.
Stop making millionaires
Yes, there should be term limits to our Tennessee representatives and also our United States senators.
Seems after they get elected they no longer represent the people who voted for them, and their campaign promises vanish into thin air as special lobbyist groups start padding their lifestyles and making them millionaires. Term limits may stop this.
In my opinion, they should have an eight-year limit, just like our Presidents.
The three Republican members of the Washington County Election Commission have been replaced.
The Tennessee Election Commission voted earlier this week to appoint Phyllis Fox, a former administrator at Milligan University; Gary McAllister, a former Washington County commissioner; and John Abe Teague, who served as 1st District director for former Congressman Phil Roe, as Republicans on the five-member board.
They will succeed the Washington County election boardâs current Chairwoman Janet W. McKee, and Election Commissioners Patti Jarrett and Jon Ruetz.
Democratic members Margaret Davis, who currently serves as the panelâs secretary, and Charles B. Kinch Jr. will remain on the Washington County Election Commission.
