BCP businesses given £700k Covid recovery cash

On Monday the council confirmed the recipients of £700,000 awarded through the government’s discretionary grants. Councillor Phil Broadhead, its cabinet member for regeneration, said the money would help the area “leap – rather than limp – out of lockdown”. The funding has come through the Additional Restrictions Grant aimed at supporting businesses that have not met the criteria for other forms of support. BCP Council was awarded £4.5 million in the latest round of the fund which was split to cover various bodies. It has now confirmed the recipients of the first of these with the confirmation of £700,000 for “business support organisations”, which includes the area’s business improvement districts (BIDs).

Green belt land in Throop and Holdenhurst has been put forward by developers FURTHER green belt development is being considered by BCP Council in a bid to build thousands of new homes. Even with a forecast of increased housing density and building heights in urban areas, the council predicts it will have a shortfall of 5,500 homes against the government-set target. As a result, it has agreed that every green belt site put forward by developers be included in its Local Plan consultation this summer. Councillor Mike Brooke, who heads up the working group overseeing the planning blueprint, said “at this stage, this is the only way forward”.

Bobby s store plan for Bournemouth Debenhams welcomed

Richard Vernon said: “I’m really looking forward to this. “The middle of Bournemouth had lost its way. It’s an iconic building and to see it have new life breathed into it so quickly is a very positive story for the town.” This is great news, especially after the loss of Beales. It sounds like they have some good ideas too. https://t.co/tEe9IzCIMq Ellie Warren (@patchworkbunny) May 10, 2021 Blogger Ellie Warren said: “This is great news, especially after the loss of Beales. “It sounds like they have some good ideas too.” Great news about Bobby’s opening in Bournemouth Town Centre. This combined with the investment of the new five star hotel and it looks like people are willing to risk a few venture attempts. Only takes a couple be a catalyst for area development.
