KANSAS CITY, Mo. â A COVID-19 outbreak forced all students back to distance learning at a Kansas City, Missouri, elementary school.
Trailwoods Elementary School, 6210 East 17th Street, began distance learning Tuesday after multiple positive COVID-19 cases at the K-6 school, according to a school district spokesperson.
In addition, one class at Phillis Wheatley Elementary will start begin distance learning Wednesday after several COVID-19 cases were confirmed, according to the district spokesperson.

May 18 A Kansas City elementary school has moved to online-only classes through the end of the month due to a COVID-19 outbreak, the district confirmed Tuesday.
Trailwoods Elementary School moved to virtual learning on Tuesday and will not return to in-person classes until June 1, said Kelly Wachel, spokeswoman for Kansas City Public Schools. In addition, she said two classrooms at John T. Hartman Elementary, and one classroom at Phillis Wheatley Elementary, will also quarantine for the next two weeks due to COVID-19.

District spokesperson Kelly Wachel confirmed that Trailwoods Elementary School returned to virtual learning, effective Tuesday, because of COVID-19.
Additionally, one classroom at Phillis Wheatley Elementary and two classrooms at John T. Hartman Elementary are also quarantining due to COVID-19.
Trailwoods and the Wheatley classroom will quarantine until June 1, a full two weeks, Wachel said. She could not immediately comment on the length of the Hartman classrooms’ quarantines.
