Filipino scientist named as ASEAN-ROK Science, Technology and Innovation Pioneer

Published April 23, 2021, 5:31 PM A Balik Scientist awardee has been named as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)- Republic of Korea (ROK) Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Pioneer. In a Facebook post shared by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), it was announced that Dr. Lawrence A. Limjuco, the 2020 Balik Scientist Awardee, received the Award for Excellence in STI. In that social media post, the DOST-Balik Scientist Program extended its felicitations to Limjuco, a former research professor in Myongi University and research fellow at the National Research Foundation of South Korea.

DOST bares 100 completed innovation projects amid COVID-19 pandemic

Published April 22, 2021, 3:02 PM The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) bared Thursday, April 22, the completion of a total of 100  research, development and innovation projects in the industry, energy, and emerging technologies sectors amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.  (MANILA BULLETIN FILE PHOTO) DOST PCIEERD Executive Director Dr. Enrico Paringit said all the 100 completed projects  in 2020 were funded by the Council. “Of the 100 completed projects, 15 of which are ready for technology transfer and commercialization, 16 for deployment to national government agencies, 41 for follow up researches, 21 for crafting of policy recommendations, and seven under facilities, technology business incubators, and capacity building,” he said during the virtual opening ceremony of the three-day Philippine Research, Development, and Innovation Conference (PRDIC).

As a powerful agent for good, AI can disrupt traditional processes and provide solutions and opportunities that Filipinos can maximize,” said DOST-PCIEERD Executive Director Dr. Enrico C. Parinigit.
