CATLETTSBURG Less than two weeks after finalizing the Camp Landing deal, the Boyd County Community Economic Developer resigned to go work as the Vice President of Operations for the principal developer, Jason Camp.
T.J. Morrison effectively resigned July 23, in a departure that both he and Judge-Executive Eric Chaney called friendly and amicable.
Morrison was one of the major deal-makers behind the scene â he said on Day 2 of accepting his position at the county (a 3-1 decision by the fiscal court), he sat down with the Reyton Group (then-owners of the KYOVA mall) to discuss them putting the property up on the market.
CATLETTSBURG Just like the late Jan Gabriel proclaimed âSunday! Sunday! Sunday!â â one of the most echoed and recognized phrases in promoting motorsports â Boyd County Judge-Executive Eric Chaney is figuratively shouting âFriday! Friday! Friday!â from the rooftops.
Hours after a video teaser appeared on the judge-executiveâs Facebook page, Chaney and the county commissioners revealed during a special Fiscal Court meeting that an announcement of notable magnitude is coming Friday at noon at the Boyd County Convention and Arts Center.
âI canât wait for our announcement,â said commissioner Keith Watts. âItâs going to be pretty big.â
âThatâs an understatement,â Chaney said with a chuckle.

CATLETTSBURG After chewing the cud and mulling it over, the Boyd County Fisical Court voted to move forward with purchasing new voting machines for the county.
CATLETTSBURG In less than 10 minutes, the Boyd County Fiscal Court awarded a $1.7 million bid at a special meeting Monday to ICD, a local company, for clean-up in the wake of the last monthâs ice storm.
The contract is expected to be inked Tuesday after review by County Attorney Phillip Hedrick, according to Judge-Executive Eric Chaney.
A total of eight bids were submitted for review based on FEMA stipulations by county emergency management officials. ICD made the cut and was recommended to the fiscal court for approval, Chaney said.
âThe fact it happens to be a local company is very positive because they live here and want to get to the clean-up right away,â Chaney said.
