A Noosa green energy lobby group is advocating council gradually increase electric vehicle only parking spaces as part of its emissions reduction strategy for climate change. Zero Emissions Noosa s response to Noosa Council s draft Climate Change Response Plan, now out for public comment, also includes the Kabi Kabi traditional owners having a greater say in land management practices. Among ZEN s other key responses is for council to explore imposing conditions on its tourism levy to encourage accommodation, cafes, restaurants and other businesses in the tourism industry to transition to low emissions operations. We also recommend the focus of the sustainable transport theme shift to reducing reliance on car travel in Noosa, the Zero Emissions Noosa s submission said.
It s the end of the road for this temporary pathway along Park Rd.
This pathway was constructed in 2018 while the major boardwalk upgrade to the national park was taking place.
Councillors were told by staff that the pathway would cost $103,000 to bring up to safety standards and the cost of removal was $130,000.
Removal costs will be covered as part a budget review or other project savings.

Noosa Hill’s scenic Viewland Dr will now be home to a new Youngcare high-needs residential care facility despite local concerns about the impact of the facility on traffic and parking.
One of Noosa s most passionate climate change action advocates has taken to heart a dire warning that Australia must triple its emissions cuts within the next decade to head off a nightmare future. The Climate Council has just released its latest findings that the country must reach net zero emissions by 2035 or suffer the catastrophic impacts of accelerating climate change and Noosa councillor Brian Stockwell needs no convincing. Cr Stockwell said unless local communities rapidly improve their emission savings, Noosa in the coming years could be hit by dengue fever outbreaks, savage heatwaves impacting on an ageing population and regular bushfire seasons similar to the 2019 infernos.
