Athens woman falls for the Casanova Scammer, loses $8,000
The suspect has been nicknamed the “Casanova Scammer” in some media reports.
The victim told police she met the man on a dating app called “The League,” which she believed vetted their clients for legitimacy.
The suspect set the stage for the con by telling her he was a cardiothoracic surgeon, according to an Athens-Clarke police report.
The two began an online relationship during which time he told her he was paying off $30,000 on her home mortgage and $50,000 of student-loan debt, which she learned later did not happen, the report said.

CNN– A woman who lost her son from coronavirus soon lost her home to a fire. She thought she had lost everything, until people across the country came to her rescue.

Raleigh, N.C. Now that Christmas has come and gone, and the family gatherings are over, coronavirus testing sites are gearing up for an increase in visitors.
Wake County had three drive-thru testing sites open on Monday. The process is pretty quick and easy, and you don’t even have to get out of your car.
When you pull into the parking lot, you get a bag with a swab and a vial. You circle the swab in your nose several times, stick the swab in the vial, and hand it to a staffer on site.
