Engenera realigns business as decarbonisation partner for all businesses

Published: 20 May 2021, 13:16 By: Image: Engenera. Engenera Renewables Group, one of the UK’s leading renewable energy companies, has restructured its management team and realigned its offering to ensure it is well positioned to respond to new, ambitious government targets on reducing carbon emissions. In April, the UK government brought forward its target of reducing carbon emissions by 78% (compared to 1990 levels) by 2035 – a 15-year reduction on the previous target of 2050. This will mean increased incentives for businesses to reduce their carbon footprint and invest in renewable energy projects. Engenera has broadened its offering to encompass a wider range of renewable energy solutions, pivoting to become a decarbonisation partner for businesses seeking a holistic solution to better manage all their energy needs and help them align with government targets.

The government’s Green Homes Grant (GHG) scheme is reportedly in chaos, with growing debt and job losses as installers are being left out of pocket. According to an article published by The Guardian, many installers have yet to be paid for the work they have done by the American firm awarded the contract for the scheme while members of the public keen to access the scheme have been waiting for months to be issued vouchers. In response to this, Solar Energy UK’s chief executive Chris Hewett has raised the matter directly with energy minister Anne-Marie Trevelyan, citing deep concerns.

Members of the public have been left waiting nearly four months, in some cases, to take advantage of the scheme to fit low carbon heating systems. Some installers say customers are pulling out after losing faith in the green grants. Boris Johnson touted the grants as one of the key programmes in his ten 10-point plan for a green industrial revolution. It aims to help 600,000 households switch their energy to low carbon and help the UK meet its commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
