Graham Stoker announces FIA president candidacy 25 May, 2021 British barrister Graham Stoker announced on Tuesday his candidacy to succeed Jean Todt as head of the FIA, with Denmark’s record nine times Le Mans 24 Hours winner Tom Kristensen in his leadership team. International Automobile Federation President Todt, in office since 2009, is standing down and his replacement will be elected in December. Stoker is Todt’s current deputy president for sport, a role retired sportscar racer Kristensen would fill if the Briton wins. Belgian Thierry Willemarck, the current deputy president for mobility, and New Zealand´s Brian Gibbons, president of the FIA Senate, are standing on Stoker’s ticket to continue in their roles.

Stoker announces bid to succeed Todt as FIA president     0 Graham Stoker, the FIA’s deputy president for sport, has officially announced his candidacy bid to succeed Jean Todt as president of motorsport’s governing body. Todt’s presidency comes to an end this year and he is prevented from standing for a fourth term in office. Following a stint as president of the Motor Sports Association, Stoker, a British sports barrister, was elected FIA deputy president in 2012, leading the sporting side and promoting social responsibility and international development. Stoker has been involved with motorsport for most of his career, initially volunteering as a steward before becoming the first chairman of the permanent stewards to the British Touring Car Championship from 1995 to 2001.

Art walk returns Saturday

The first Second Saturday Art Walk of 2021 is planned from 3 to 5 p.m. May 8 at five venues in downtown Brookings. Venues participating include Manley Art Center, Brian Scott and Signatures galleries, Semi Aquatic Gallery, Whimsical Griffin and Ambiance by the Sea. All venues are within two blocks of Chetco Avenue between Oak and Center streets. Masks and social distancing are required inside the buildings. The art walk will be canceled in the event of a lockdown. All venues are open for business and welcome spectators during normal operating hours. Leslie Wilkinson is the featured artist for the month at Pelican Bay Arts Association’s (PBAA) Manley Art Center, 433 Oak St. Her show is titled “Layers: An Exploration of Alternative Process Photography and Paper Collage Embracing the Japanese Concept of Wabi-sabi.”
