Good morning, GGN! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. The regular season schedule has been released, and the Jets open up the year in exciting fashion. Week 1 features the Jets heading to Carolina to face Sam Darnold and the Panthers. It will either be a revenge game for Sam Darnold, or a justification if the Jets can manage to pull out a win. The Jets will also be heading overseas, playing the Atlanta Falcons in London in Week 5. Thankfully for Jets fans, this game is considered an away game for the team, and all home games for the Jets will be at Metlife this season. Let’s hope the team gives us something to cheer for in Week 17. With that, here are your links to the team to start your morning.

Good morning, GGN! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. Rookie quarterback Zach Wilson said that he wants to earn the starting job, but by looking at the depth chart, it was a given already. Outside of Wilson there’s only two quarterbacks on the roster: James Morgan and Mike White. Backup quarterback has become an important need for the Jets roster. No disrespect to either Morgan or White, but it would help Wilson tremendously to have a backup quarterback with plenty of experience under his belt. Unfortunately for the Jets, there really isn’t any option like that available on free agency. There’s also not many names that would inspire more hope than Morgan or White if Wilson were to go down for whatever reason. While the future looks hopeful for New York, everything now hinges on Zach Wilson, whether it’s fair or not. With that,

A Week 1 showdown against their former quarterback, Sam Darnold, and a Week 5 trip to London are among the highlights of the Jets’ upcoming season the first for coach Robert Saleh and quarterback Zach Wilson.
Last year, the Jets (2-14) won two of their last three contests, winning back-to-back against the Rams and the Browns before falling to the Patriots.
According to multiple reports, including the New York Post’s Brian Costello, this is the Jets’ complete schedule. The NFL is set to release its regular season schedule tonight at 8 p.m.

Monday morning, investigators from the city’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Task Force were on the scene trying to determine the origin and cause of fire as well as whether anything at all will be able to be salvaged. By the afternoon, officials said they had to do a partial demolition and take down the steeple for safety concerns.
As far as the time capsule goes, they are working with St. Leo’s former church officials to locate and salvage the momentos. But tracking them down will not be easy. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia closed the church in 2013, when it merged 24 parishes into 10 and left a number of historic neighborhood anchors vacant. St. Leo’s merged with Our Lady of Consolation Parish. Still, it was common for neighbors to worship there and use the space for functions until January 2019 when the Archdiocese closed it permanently.

The New York Jets are still working to sign Marcus Maye to a long-term deal after placing the franchise tag on the safety this offseason.
Head coach Robert Saleh provided the latest on the situation, per Adam Maya of NFL.com:
We had a really nice discussion and obviously him and his agent are working with Joe on trying to get his deal done, and hopefully that happens soon. I have a tremendous amount of respect for what [players] are going through. Again, you guys know my philosophy: I think these kids have earned the right to ask for whatever they can, especially when they do things the right way like [Maye] has. Joe and his staff are working relentlessly to get something done.
