Brian Daunt, Fire Management Officer for the Fall River Ranger District and Incident Commander for the Agate Bed Fire, requests that folks and visitors please avoid the fire area, located ten miles southeast of Fairburn. Unfortunately, visitors and rock hounding enthusiast arrived over the weekend, which impeded firefighter operations.
Daunt said, “I understand that this is a popular place for rock hounding, but we need to allow firefighters to finish their work while also keeping everyone safe.”
The Agate Bed Fire started Saturday, March 6 at approximately 2:15 pm and has burned 2,500 acres. The fire was human caused and is now under investigation.
