A Causeway Coast and Glens councillor has told colleagues proposing the flying of the Union flag all year round at a number of council buildings that someone has beaten them to it.
Councillors were debating a motion brought by DUP councillor Aaron Callan for the council to mirror a UK government policy of flying the Union flag on designated buildings for 365 days per year.
Limavady councillor Brenda Chivers told the Council s Corporate Policy and Resources Committee an unofficial Union flag was already flying outside the council building.

A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of a mother of two during a brutal attack at her home in the centre of a small town in Co Derry.
Victim Ludmila Poletelova (61), from Latvia, had been living in Limavady for a number of years, at an address off Main Street, where she worked at the Classic Wine Bar.

A local councillor has said County Derry is facing an epidemic of litter after it was revealed over £1.7 million was spend by Mid Ulster District Council last year dealing with litter and fly-tipping.
Magherafelt councillor Christine McFlynn said the problem seemed to be incessant. We have an epidemic of litter, it comes up at nearly every meeting,” she said.
“There is litter virtually on every road. People just throw things out the window and one of my passions is to protect the environment.
