May 17, 2021 9:33 AM EDT (ABC Columbia/FILE) SUMTER CO., S.C. (WOLO) – The Sumter County Coroner’s Office has identified the motorcyclist killed in a vehicle collision on Sunday. Coroner Robert Baker says Allen Moffitt, 74, died at Prisma Health Richland hospital after the collision on U.S. Highway 15 near Lewis Road around 10:50 a.m. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Moffitt was driving a 1986 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, when he made an unlawful lane change and hit a 2011 Infiniti. Authorities say Moffitt, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, died, while the Infiniti driver was not injured. This incident remains under investigation.

(The T&D) -A person died in a Thursday morning collision on Interstate 26 eastbound in Calhoun County, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell. The collision occurred at 8 a.m. when a 2003 Toyota Sequoia ran off the road to the right, ran back onto the road, and hit a box truck that was parked in the median near the 123 mile marker. The box truck hit another box truck also parked in the median. The front seat passenger of the Sequoia died in the crash. Calhoun County Coroner Donnie Porth said he could not yet release the name because the next of kin had not been notified.

Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge continues to be ranked as one of the safest hospitals in South Carolina, according to the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. The Columbia hospital received the highest grade from the Leapfrog Group, which issues biannual safety rankings. Since 2012, the Leapfrog Group has published Hospital Safety Scores twice a year once in the spring and once during the fall to create transparency in the U.S. health system. The rating is focused on errors, accidents, injuries and infections.

(WOLO) – The Newberry County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a multi-vehicle collision on Monday. Coroner Laura Kneece says Mary Maner, 76, died from her injuries and was a passenger in a 2015 Buick involved in the wreck. The South Carolina Highway Patrol says it happened on I-26 East at mile marker 83 at 7:20 p.m. According to investigators, a 2016 Dodge truck struck the Buick, which caused that vehicle to hit a 2017 Acura SUV from behind. Authorities say after hitting the SUV, the Buick then ran off the left side of the road, hit a bridge rail and struck a 2014 Lexus from behind.
