The Delhi High Court sought journalist Priya Ramani's stand on former Union minister MJ Akbar's appeal against a verdict in a defamation case against her over sexual harassment allegations on the grounds that it was "based on surmises and conjecture"
During the #MeToo movement in India, Ramani had made allegations of sexual misconduct against Akbar in 2018. In response to it, Akbar filed a defamation suit against Ramani on October 15 that year. Ramani had pleaded not guilty.
New Delhi [India], August 11 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice to journalist Priya Ramani on the appeal of former union minister MJ Akbar challenging a trial court order which had dismissed the criminal defamation case filed by him against the journalist.
In February, a trial court had acquitted Ramani in the criminal defamation case filed by the former Union minister over her allegations of sexual harassment.
