Regulator not satisfied with list of candidates
Market regulator SEBI is likely to grant an extension of term to GV Nageswara Rao, the current MD and CEO of NSDL, one of India’s largest share depositories, sources told
Business Line. Rao’s term could be extended for six months to a year, the sources said.
Rao has already served his two terms as per the regulatory norms but SEBI is unsatisfied with the candidates that were recommended by NSDL’s nomination and remuneration committee (NRC), sources said.

PS Reddy, the current MD and CEO of commodity bourse MCX, is under consideration for the post of MD and CEO at NSDL, sources told BusinessLine.
In March, the nomination and remuneration committee (NRC) of NSDL, after a slew of interviews, had recommended the names of Priya Subbaraman, the chief regulator officer of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Sanjeev Kaushik, 1992 batch IAS officer and additional secretary in the Ministry of Finance for the top post at NSDL.

March 17, 2021 Priya Subbaraman, Chief Regulator Officer at National Stock Exchange (NSE,) and Sanjeev Kaushik, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, have been shortlisted for the post of MD and CEO of National Share Depository Services Ltd (NSDL), a leading provider of equity demat accounts. Current NSDL MD and CEO GV Nagesh Rao has been serving since 2013 and is currently on extension.
