Primark has dashed customers hopes of an online shop after doubling down on its intention to stay in-store only.
PRIMARK S store at Monks Cross in York is set to open through the night, giving shoppers more time to buy Christmas presents. The store was due to open at 9am this morning (Friday) and not close until midnight on Saturday night. It is opening 39 hours straight to help reduce queues and give customers more time to shop safely, the company said. To support overnight opening hours, Primark has increased its night time security staff by almost 70 per cent to manage customer queues and help ensure customers feel safe when they are shopping. Simon Gibbs, retail director for Primark UK & Northern Europe, commented: “The safety of our employees and customers remains our highest priority. The ability to stay open through the night has meant more shoppers can shop safely with us over the festive season.

Clothing giant Primark will open stores all night and employ extra security staff to manage queues.
The chain s Bluewater store will be among 11 to open overnight on Friday.

When doors open at 8am tomorrow, they will not close until closing time on Saturday evening.
The company says it is opening for longer hours in a bid to keep queues under control and by giving Christmas shoppers as much time as possible to buy their gifts.
Primark Braehead bump up security for second 36-hour spending spree this weekend
The decision follows last weekend s overnight opening hours when massive queues formed at the Glasgow store.

Primark has confirmed that 11 of its stores across the UK will remain open for 24 hours on Friday (18 December).
The shops will open from 8am on Friday 18 December and stay open until closing time the following day on Saturday 19 December.
Extensive safety measures
The extended hours will be introduced to help reduce queues in stores and allow customers more time to shop safely, with Christmas being just over a week away.
It marks the second time this month that Primark stores have remained open for an extending period, with several locations opening for 24 hours on 2 December.
