A Montgomery man is behind bars accused of cruelly mistreating Missy, a Shih Tzu, causing it to fall comatose.
Terrance Wade Ray, 20, was charge with first-degree cruelty to a dog, a Class C felony.
According to Ray s charging documents, an animal control officer was called to a home on Bridlewood Drive about 9 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of a dog being put in a trash can.
The complainant, the officer wrote, was already speaking with two Montgomery police officers. He saw Terrance Ray holding his significant other s dog by the nape while blood was pouring from the dog s mouth/head, the officer wrote in the arrest affidavit.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - A woman was shot and killed in Montgomery Wednesday evening, according to police.
Montgomery Police Capt. Saba Coleman said around 7 p.m., officers and fire medics responded to the 3600 block of Bridlewood Drive after getting a call about a person shot. There, they found the victim, 26-year-old Angel Goldsmith, with a fatal gunshot wound.
Goldsmith was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Coleman.

A woman is dead and police have launched a death investigation into the circumstances that led to her death.
Montgomery police Capt. Saba Coleman said officers were called to the 3600 block of Bridlewood Drive about 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The victim, who Coleman declined to name, was found at the scene with a fatal gunshot wound.
Coleman said the shooting is currently classified as a death investigation as opposed to a homicide investigation.
