As part of her role as Royal Patron of the London College of Fashion, Sophie announced this year’s winner of The Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design.
The royal congratulated winner Priya Ahluwalia, who is the fourth designer to receive the accolade. It recognises the important role of the fashion industry in society, and the talent of young British designers.

In a bid to help those budding designers, applications for the BFC/
GQ Designer Menswear Fund are now being accepted, which sees the winner get a £150,000 cash prize as well as a year of unrivalled business mentoring from the industry s finest talents.
Established in September 2013, the first BFC/
GQ grant was awarded to Christopher Shannon in 2014, who was followed by Patrick Grant of E Tautz in 2015 and Craig Green in 2016. In 2019, Samuel Ross, founder A-Cold-Wall , was awarded the fund. Each of the aforementioned designers have established successful standalone fashion businesses.
