Not guilty plea entered for man accused of killing Brittany Zimmermann

MADISON, Wis. The man arrested and accused in the 2008 murder of UW-Madison college student Brittany Zimmerman had a not guilty plea entered on his behalf in Dane County court Monday.
David Kahl did not speak in his latest court appearance, so the judge entered the not guilty plea for him.
Kahl is being charged with first-degree intentional homicide in Zimmermann’s murder. Prosecutors say his DNA matches evidence from the crime scene in Zimmermann’s downtown Madison apartment.
Kahl was ruled competent to stand trial in June after initially being arrested for the murder in March 2020 and charged in December 2020.

MADISON, Wis. A Dane County judge says there is enough evidence to move forward in the case of the man accused in the 2008 murder of UW-Madison student Brittany Zimmermann.
Thursday’s preliminary hearing for David Kahl determined there was probable cause to continue on with the case.
Kahl is being charged with first-degree intentional homicide in Zimmermann’s murder.
Zimmermann’s boyfriend found her inside her apartment on West Doty Street on April 2, 2008. She had just arrived home from class when someone followed her into her apartment.

MADISON, WI (WSAU-WAOW) The man accused of killing a Marshfield woman in Madison in 2008 will stand trial.
David Kahl is accused of killing Brittany Zimmermann when she was a student at UW-Madison in the late 2000s. A criminal complaint states Kahl got into the 21-year-old’s downtown apartment in April 2008 and killed her.
The complaint says Kahl’s DNA matches DNA lifted from evidence at the crime scene. Authorities say Kahl had approached strangers on the day of the murder asking for money. He told the strangers that he needed funds for car repairs but was instead intending to buy drugs.
