Leadership Greater Chicago recently announced the 2022 Class of its Signature Fellows Program.
This select group of 50 accomplished and diverse individuals represents a cross-section of professionals from the corporate, nonprofit, government and education sectors. With the city as their classroom, participants are immersed in major socioeconomic issues facing the community and build connections that facilitate solutions.
The 2022 Class will commence following more than a year of unrest in our country where we faced continued social injustice followed by the largest anti-racism movement in our history, all during a global pandemic, said Maria Wynne, LGC Chief Executive Officer. Bridget Hayes, the daughter of Allison and Rob Hayes, is the Avon Central School Class of 2021 valedictorian.
Bridget will attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall to major in neuroscience and behavior on the pre-med track.
Bridget served as president of the National Honor Society. She also received numerous honors and awards, including Junior of the Year, the Elizabeth Blewer Mathematics Award, Chemistry Achievement Award, and Advanced Placement Scholar.
Her high school activities included the Math Team, Interact Club, and Student Council.
She also played soccer and was a member of the golf and swim teams.
As an athlete, she was named to the New York State all-state girlsâ soccer team, Livingston County Athletic Association all-star, and GLOW Super 12.

Hindsight was 20/20 for a Redstone Arsenal optometrist as she reflected on the challenges of 2020 in a contest-winning essay.
Bridget Hayes, an optometrist at Fox Army Health Center, wrote the essay as an entry for a center-wide contest in honor of National Patient Safety Awareness Week this March.
Dr. Margaret Bates, deputy for quality and safety at Fox, put out the call for contest entries based on the theme âTogether We are Better, Stronger, Safer.â
âI wanted folks to shine a spotlight on how he/she contributes to patient care at this facility,â Bates said.
Deputies at the center judged the entries based on examples of achievements and contributions to patient safety, education and training that has been provided to patients, originality, and paragraph and sentence structure.
