RuPaul s Drag Race: there s obviously drag, there s mini and maxi challenges, the Werk Room, and the supposed himbos we ve come to know as the Pit Crew well they are the Brit Crew in the U.K. We ve seen this set up not only across iterations of the show that s the U.S., Thailand, Holland, U.K., and Canada but also other permutations like the live Vegas Revue. Down Under, is no different.
Though things might be a bit smaller given that this is the first season and was filmed in a pandemic, Down Under brings its own Pit Crew. The Queens of RuPaul's Drag Race UK are back after a seven-month break of filming due to the pandemic and RuPaul re-opened the competition with a shock announcement: Veronica Green would not be returning to the competition due to a positive COVID test, leaving one space open in the competition… Disguised as the Brit Crew, previously eliminated queens Joe Black, Cherry Valentine and Asttina Mandella returned to set and pitched their claim for why they deserved to take back their place in the race. After a vote, the majority of the seven remaining queens chose Joe Black to continue competing alongside them in the Olympics of Drag.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK was full of twists tonight as filming returned following the UK lockdown.
Last week’s show was left on a cliffhanger when Ru informed the queens filming would have to cease immediately as the UK went into lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
But they are back following a seven-month break, with one exception.
Sadly Veronica Green wasn’t able to come back after testing positive for coronavirus before production restarted. Veronica has since made a full recovery, and Ru did promise an open invitation for the queen to return next season. BBC
With a space now open in the show, the Brit Crew walked in who were then revealed to be eliminated queens Joe Black, Cherry Valentine and Asttina Mandella in disguise.
