Buta Singh, who prided himself as a Rajiv Gandhi loyalist, died at 86 in New Delhi on Saturday. He was a virtual number two in Rajiv s Cabinet; a reckless demolition man who dismissed state governments almost at will. Buta s in-house rivalry with Giani Zail Singh played havoc in the politics of the home state of Punjab.

IPOH: A country and world free of Covid-19 was on top of everyone’s wish list for the new year.
Teacher Ambiga Pillay, 60, wished that 2021 would give everyone new hope, a great beginning and a world free from the pandemic.
“Thanks to the news of vaccines being made available, there is some hope of people resuming normal life again.
