After many doctors and surgeries, teen with cerebral palsy finds relief

Arianna Thierry has sought treatment for her 13-year-old son, who has cerebral palsy, all over Louisiana, from Lafayette to Baton Rouge to New Orleans to Shreveport.
Now, she has come full circle to Lafayette because of Dr. Ryan Farmer, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon with Lourdes Physician Group who counts the diagnosis, treatment and management of cerebral palsy patients as one of his specialties.
“My faith is what got us here,” said Thierry, who lives in Lawtell. “That s what I believe strongly. You have to go through these obstacles to get here. We kind of made a circle. Sometimes you start in a place looking for something and you go halfway around the world and end up right back where you started because something else was planted there.”
Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System expanding on North Shore
Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System said Wednesday it has purchased 12.94 undeveloped acres in Covington as it expands its services on the North Shore.
The property is at the intersection of I-12 and Highway 21, located in the Nor Du Lac Shopping Center, a news release said. The new facility will join Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group clinics throughout St. Tammany and Washington parishes, Our Lady of the Lake Surgery Center – Pontchartrain in Covington, Our Lady of the Lake Surgical Hospital Slidell, and Our Lady of the Angels in Bogalusa. Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health operates a satellite clinic in Bogalusa.
Those scheduled to participate include Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University, Louisiana State Police, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Shreveport, City Year, Heart of Hospice, Northwestern State’s Gallapsy College of Education and Human Development, Ochsner LSU Health, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, Willis-Knighton Health System, Emerson, University Medical Center of New Orleans, North Oaks Health System, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge General Medical Center, U.S. Department of State, Peace Corps and Raising Canes.

Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System announced on Tuesday that Kathleen Healy-Collier has been named market president for their Acadiana Region.
Healy-Collier will join the ministry on February 22, 2021 taking on responsibilities including leading the 328 beds at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, Our Lady of Lourdes Women s & Children s, Our Lady of Lourdes Heart Hospital, the Lourdes Physician Group and the full complement of healthcare services offered by Our Lady of Lourdes and its many partners and locations.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is awarding $21.5 million in federal funds to the State of Louisiana for relief assistance from COVID-19 and Hurricane Laura.
“This past year, Louisiana’s hospitals and state agencies have had to grapple with both a pandemic and one of the strongest hurricanes ever to make landfall along our coast,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This federal funding relieves the burden on our state to make a strong recovery and bounce back.”
