Dallas police searching for critical missing 28-year-old man

Updated: 7:28 PM CST March 11, 2021 DALLAS The Dallas Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a critical missing 28-year-old man. Police said Otis Stewart was last seen on foot in the 2300 block of St. Frances Ave. around 12:15 p.m. Thursday. Police are concerned about Stewart’s whereabouts because they say he may be a danger to himself or to others. Stewart is described as a Black man standing at 5 feet, 10 inches, and weighing about 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt, black pants with white stripes and white tennis shoes. If you see Stewart or know of his location, call the Dallas Police Department at 214-671-4268 or dial 911.

Programs Recommended by Dallas Mayor s Safe Communities Task Force Underway

Johnson created the task force in August 2019 and tasked them with figuring out what can be done about the city s skyrocketing violent crime rate. The group of 16 then spent months touring high-crime areas, discussing ideas, learning about programs in other cities before submitting a report to the mayor s office. On Wednesday, the Mayor joined Chief Eddie Garcia and Task Force members Rene Martinez and Derrick Battie to discusses improvements made in South Dallas near Opportunity Park. 76 new street lights were installed in the area during December of last year and January of this year. Mayor Johnson says it’s part of a strategic plan to reduce violent crime based on data presented by the Task Force.

Trials kick off to mitigate traffic woes caused by Christchurch s new motorway

NZTA principal project manager Brendon French said so far they have heard from 30 people who are finding the new motorway louder than expected. “Many of these people were not aware that the low noise asphalt will not be applied until spring 2021, probably October, once the chip seal has had a chance to bed in. “We expect the low noise asphalt to make a significant difference.” Stacy Squires/Stuff Some of the first cars head down the new motorway in December. Congestion has also been an issue, with cars backed up along Cranford St in morning peak traffic. French said NZTA has been working closely with the council to manage traffic flow south of the new motorway.
