Regional communities set to recover through Arts
73 recipients across regional and remote Australia will share in almost $1.9 million through the Regional Arts Fund Recovery grants.
The Recovery grants are designed to foster creative activity and help to renew regional and remote communities in the wake of COVID-19 and the 2019-20 bushfires.
Funded projects will provide opportunities for artists and arts workers to cultivate creative community engagement in Indigenous communities, provide opportunities for digital upskilling, and develop new workshops and capacity-building programs.
The Australian Government has also announced almost $400,000 to support a series of six national strategic projects under the Regional Arts Fund. The projects will be delivered by Regional Arts Australia in 2020-21 and include a regional arts fellowship program, and sector wellbeing and online studio programs supporting the regional arts network.
The Recovery Boost is a $10 million targeted measure announced by the Australian Government in 2020
as part of the Relief and Recovery Fund. It responds to the difficulties experienced by regional artists, artsorganizations, and communities who have been heavily impacted by COVID-19.
The Regional Arts Fund is an Australian Government program that supports sustainable cultural development in regional and remote communities in Australia. It meets the strategic priorities of supporting participation in, and access to, the arts; and encouraging greater private sector support for the arts.
The Regional Arts Fund is designed to benefit regional and remote arts practitioners, arts workers, audiences and communities. The program is managed nationally by Regional Arts Australia and is delivered in Victoria by Regional Arts Victoria.
