DETROIT Outfielder Byron Buxton was put on the 10-day injured list by the Minnesota Twins with a strained right hip.
The Twins also announced before Friday’s game at Detroit that they have selected the contract of outfielder Trevor Larnach from Triple-A St. Paul.
The injury interrupts a stellar start for the 27-year-old Buxton, who is hitting .370 with nine home runs and five stolen bases. Buxton has played over 100 games just once in his big league career.
Larnach could make his big league debut. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, the Twins designated left-hander Brandon Waddell for assignment.

DETROIT Trevor Larnach will make his MLB debut Saturday at Comerica Park when the Twins take on the Tigers at 3:10 p.m.
The outfielder was officially called up Friday to take the place of Byron Buxton, who went on the 10-day injury list with a right hip sprain. He did not play in Friday s 7-3 win for the Twins but is in the lineup batting fifth and occupying left field for Saturday.

After proving himself a solid option out of the bullpen for the Twins with 40 innings of 3.15 ERA baseball from 2019-20, Stashak has stumbled badly to start the season. Stashak is still missing bats at a good clip, striking out a robust 36.5 percent of hitters, but his walk rate has skyrocketed to 13.5 percent as well. Fielding Independent Pitching suggest decent work with a 4.20 FIP, but in terms of real world production, Stashak has allowed 10 earned runs in 10 2/3 innings.

The game was delayed by rain for 35 minutes in the middle of the fourth and for 69 at the start of the seventh. The second delay came shortly after Willi Castro hit a three-run homer in the sixth to cut Detroit’s deficit to one, but Minnesota added three more runs after play resumed.
âI think we forced the Tigers’ staff to work pretty hard tonight,â Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said. “Our ability to go out there and put a few more runs on the board is whatâs going to lead to wins.â
