Bronson City Council passes budget, approves police wage increase

By Jim Measel Jun 14, 2021 | 7:42 PM BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson City Council formally approved the city’s 2021-2022 Fiscal Year budget on Monday as they met in the City Council chambers for the first time since March of 2020. City Manager Brandon Mersman said the budget has a projected deficit of just over $286,000 due to uncertainty over state revenue sharing and ACT 51 road funds following the COVID-19 pandemic. The Council passed a resolution which amends the 2021 Fiscal Year budget. Mersman said they anticipated revenues to exceed expenses in the General Fund by a healthy amount due in large part to the city getting larger than expected revenues from the state’s Personal Property Tax Reimbursement Programs. In addition, the city will be getting COVID-19 funds though various grants.
