Iowa judge throws out grocery industry lawsuit over Bottle Bill

A district court judge has dismissed the grocery industry’s challenge of how state officials interpret Bottle Bill requirements for redeeming the nickel deposits on empty beverage containers.
Meanwhile, at the state Capitol, a plan that would set the conditions by which grocers could opt out of processing the empties in their stores is eligible for debate in a state senate committee. Senator Dan Dawson, a Republican from Council Bluffs, said the bill could “breathe new life” into the effort to make changes.

Legislators Working to Remove Iowa’s Front License Plate Requirement

Des Moines, IA (Radio Iowa)– Two Iowa senators are working on a bill that would bring Iowa front license plate requirement to an end.
The owner’s of sports cars and vehicles with large front grills have complained that license plates ruin the appearance of the vehicle according to Brad Epperly, a lobbyist for the Iowa Automobile Dealers Association.
On the other side of the argument is Iowa State Patrol Captain Mark Stein who says having that license plate on the front of the vehicles is critical in many investigations like hit and runs and Amber Alerts.
