Sigourney Hosts SICL Track Meet

Duwa to Sign with Vikings

Des Moines will be the new home for Keota’s Brady Duwa next fall, as the senior recently announced via social media his intentions to sign with the Grand View University football team. The 6’2’’ 195 pound Duwa will be a defensive back for a Viking team that has won 82% of their games in the last decade including a national title in 2013 for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Duwa was first team all state this past year for the Cobras and did a little bit of everything including recording five interceptions, 30 tackles, and compiling 12 touchdowns offensively with 831 total yards. The captain helped Sigourney-Keota to their first dome appearance since 2005.

Hammen and Sprouse Pace Five Eagle Boys on All-Conference

Plenty of postseason recognition is expected for a conference champ and that was the case for the Keota boys’ basketball team in 2020-21. Five Eagle players received an All-Conference selection by the South Iowa Cedar League for their work on the hardwood this winter. Luke Hammen and Carson Sprouse were the headliners being named to the first team. Hammen’s 17 points per game ranked fourth in the East division and he also hauled in 4.9 rebounds a night. The senior was a marksman from deep, as he knocked down a league best 46% of his threes and made 61 on the season. Sprouse tallied 15.9 points an outing to rank fifth in the division and also made his fair share of threes with 51 at a 33% clip. He created a team-best 68 steals and dished out 56 assists.
