Four weeks ago, I published an update on the individual and team ratings accumulated by our band of merry men and women at Following Football.
With Round 9 just getting underway, it’s time to take another look at where things stand after eight rounds.
As I’ve said before, we use 23 sources of voting and evaluations of AFL players each week: several teams of the week, Brownlow-style voting, best-on-grounds, fantasy scoring, statistical leaders and AFLCA voting.

Dear Eddie,
You came to Collingwood when the club was on its knees – just ten years after their historical drought-breaking 1990 flag, the club was now a wooden spooner, struggling financially, and rudderless.
You poached premiership coach Mick Malthouse from his West Coast contract, and rebuilt Collingwood into an off-field powerhouse. Share
You had to oversee the heartbreak of the 2002–03 grand final losses but, amazingly, after just two years out of the finals, the club was already trending back upwards. Despite losing a swath of experienced champions over 2007–09, Collingwood made the preliminary final in 2009, and won the flag in 2010.

With a new coach, Magpies could contend again in 2022: Rendell

Former Collingwood recruiter Matt Rendell still believes the Magpies can contend as soon as next year if they commit to a fresh start.
The Magpies sit 17th on the ladder after seven rounds having just lost to Gold Coast on the MCG.
Rendell last week called for the club to move on from coach Nathan Buckley and has doubled down, saying he wouldn’t trade away key players because a fresh start with a new coach is all the list needs to get back into the finals mix.
