Dog park opens for play Share
A NEW dog park has opened at Sandfield Reserve in Carrum Downs.
The area cost $206,000 to fit out. Frankston councillor Sue Baker said “there are 15,208 dogs registered in Frankston City, but not everyone has a large backyard or suitable places where they can walk them off leash, exercise and enjoy nature as well. What we have created at the Sandfield Reserve Dog Park is an answer to that and it is a place for all ages.”
“There is more than 4,500 square metres of open space – in a designated zone packed with dog-friendly features. There is an agility area, which is what we are calling our playground for dogs! It’s got ramps, hoops, platforms and posts for dogs and owners who like a challenge,” she said. “There’s even a time-out area for dogs who might be over-excited or over-exhausted, with seating for owners to relax as well.”
Survey says
Council will choose 2,250 households at random to take part in the voluntary survey.
Council says data collected from the survey “may inform service reviews, activities to improve residents’ experience of Frankston City, activities and services involving health and wellbeing, to inform advocacy to government in areas including transport, strategic priorities and plans in health, wellbeing and housing, activation of the Frankston City centre and tracking progress on priorities identified in council’s strategic plans.”
The mayor Kris Bolam said “the voluntary survey will provide us with an update on the characteristics of the community since the last ABS Census was held 2016, so that our planning is up to date and responsive to changing community needs. Understanding the needs, views and aspirations of people living in Frankston City is key to the successful delivery of services and infrastructure that meet the diverse needs of our community.
Final budget spending approved
FRANKSTON Council has given the final tick of approval to its 2021/2022 budget.
The final budget includes multi-million dollar works at Jubilee Park, Monterey Reserve, and Pat Rollo Reserve. Other projects included as part of $65 million in capital works spending are the playground implementation program, the sporting grounds playing surface renewal program, a public park on Evelyn Street, the Ballam Park Athletic Precinct track redevelopment, local area traffic management in the Seaford precinct, and the sculpture and public artwork development program.
The mayor, Cr Kris Bolam, said that council had made some adjustments to its budget after the conclusion of a consultation period.
