FRANKLIN With Independence Day approaching, the Franklin Lions Club is busy making plans to light Franklin up in celebration.
But not with fireworks.
For the second straight year, the Lions are organizing the sale of paper lanterns to brighten the holiday while also raising funds for the local charities they support.
The Franklin Lions Second Annual Light Up Franklin effort is already under way, and lanterns will be on sale through July 1, while supplies last.
Though it s really all about the Fourth of July, this year there is an added level of celebration: independence from the restrictions of the pandemic.
An installation ceremony for incoming officers of the Franklin Lions Club was held Tuesday, June 8, during their annual awards banquet at Connors Steak & Seafood in Cool Springs.
